Chocorua Straight Rye 7 Years Aged Liberty Trail

Named for Liberty Trail, the smoothest trail up to the rocky peak of Chocorua, which also happens to be 7 miles long. A coincidence? We think not!

Chocorua Straight Rye Whiskey: Liberty Trail is a limited edition release aged 7 years and composed of a 55% Rye and 35% corn mash. What sets it apart from the original? It’s a full 5 years older, plus its recipe has departed from the 100% rye mash. Instead, this edition builds the sweetness with 30% organic flint/dent hybrid corn.

 

Tasting Notes:

An amber hue with nice coating oils on the walls of the glass. Richer, deeper nose than traditional Chocorua 2 year. Its rounded aroma is comes from the longer maturation, plus the addition of the corn to the mash bill gives it a sweet and creamy underpinning. . Dominant spice is rye, with intensified confectionary notes. The first sip suggests melted icing and cinnamon. Mid palate coated with molasses cookie and baking spices. Vanilla is present, smoothing out finish with a slow burn and peppery kick.
