William Whipple’s Special Winter Wheat Whiskey marks the third iteration of our Whipple Family as well as the latest addition to our Rare Casks series.
Special Whipple is distilled in one season, in one year, and by one distiller, making it worthy of its rare classification. This Bottled-in-bond Straight Wheat Whiskey is the product of early experimentation of toasted carawheat and roasted “chocolate” wheat, resulting in a warm and woody taste. Mahogany and caramel aromas meet the nose first, transitioning into a cinnamon-like heat. The added time in the barrel cultivates a richness to this 100-proof spirit, reminiscent of tobacco and leather. The mid-palate gives way to notes of wood-sugar and vanilla creaminess, finishing with a pleasant lingering of chocolate.
